Resident Aide
Working closely with the Care Supervisor, the goal of our
Resident Aides is to improve the quality of life and functioning
of our residents by assisting with their personal care needs.
This is a vitally important, ‘front line’ position in the
business. Personal Care includes but is not limited to bathing,
dressing, oral care, ambulation, elimination, medication
assistance and comfort and safety measures. Working within a
team centered environment our Resident Aides assist other
departments as well, to ensure all our support services are of
the highest quality. Documentation and record keeping is a very
important part of the Personal Care Department and allows for
effective communication with other team members and the Care
Supervisor. Our Residents Aides are on-site 24 hours per day
seven days a week, and as such, there are many opportunities for
getting to know family members and creating with them a
cooperative relationship.
Cook
Nutritious meals are one of the most important parts of the day
at Sunrise. As such, a large portion of the role of our Cooks is
to ensure that all necessary tasks related to meal preparation,
including safety and sanitation are completed and are done so
according to schedules as developed by the Food Service
Supervisor. Responsible for plating food at mealtimes our Cooks
must always be aware of the presentation of all food served. Our
Cooks must be able to anticipate and accommodate individual
resident preference as well as allergies or special diet
requirements. Our Cooks work closely with our residents and
other Food Service staff as well as the Food Service Supervisor.
Food Services Aide
Our Food Service Aides work closely with all Food Service
personnel, assisting in the coordination of kitchen operations.
Our Food Service Aides assist in meal preparation, serving meals
as well as cleaning up and maintaining a safe and sanitary work
environment. Food Service Aides are also responsible for knowing
individual resident preference, allergies and special diet
requirements and making accommodations for those individual
residents. Our Food Service Aides work closely with our
residents and other Food Service staff as well as the Food
Service Supervisor.
Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant
Working under the direction of our Housekeeping Supervisor our
Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant must follow policies and
procedures to ensure a high standard of cleanliness throughout
Sunrise. Our Housekeeping Attendant follows specific
cleaning/laundry schedules to ensure uninterrupted service to
our residents and other departments within Sunrise. Due to the
nature of the position our Housekeeping/Laundry Attendant spends
a great deal of time with our residents and as such will inform
the department supervisor should any resident concerns or
maintenance issues arise. Our Housekeeping/Laundry Attendants
must remain flexible and have the ability to respond quickly to
a variety of situations.
Activity Coordinator
Our Activity Coordinator is responsible for the planning,
implementation, evaluation and leadership of the activities at
Sunrise, providing social, physical, spiritual and intellectual
stimulation. This position requires our Activity Coordinator to
identify and encourage residents to take part and share special
skills or knowledge. It is vital that our Activity Coordinator get
to know the residents they work with and plan events
accordingly. Evaluation of old, and creation of new programs is
imperative as the needs of our residents change. Our Activity
Coordinator must keep residents and families informed of upcoming
events as well as escorting residents to outings. Our Activity
Coordinator is also in charge of the recruitment and training of
volunteers.
Care Supervisor
Working closely with the Administrator, our Care Supervisor
plays an integral role in the personal care services provided at
Sunrise. It is the responsibility of our Care Supervisor to
coordinate the delivery of all care to the residents at Sunrise.
Our Care Supervisor must liaise with the Home Care Case
Coordinator and family members, assisting in the transfer of
information for the development of the resident care plan. In
addition to maintaining positive relationships with family and
other service providers, our Care Supervisor must also ensure
implementation of resident care and medication assistance plans
providing quality health care services in a safe environment.
Our Care Supervisor also provides supervision and evaluation to
all Resident Aides under their charge and maintains scheduling
and payroll documentation.
Food Service Supervisor
Our Food Service Supervisor is responsible for the overall
operation of the Food Service Department. Working closely with
our residents and their families to determine individual
nutrition requirements, the Food Service Supervisor oversees the
creation and follow through of meal preparation, menu planning,
food inventory, safety and cleaning schedules/procedures,
department scheduling, staff training and payroll. Our Food
Service Supervisor must create and maintain an easy to use
reference for all Food Service staff indicating resident
preferences, allergies and special diet requirements as well as
assist training in nutritional needs as set out by the Canada
Food Guide. Supervision and evaluation of all Food Service staff
are also a large part of the role of the Food Service
Supervisor.

Housekeeping Supervisor
Our Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high
standard of cleanliness and sanitation throughout Sunrise in all
common areas and resident suites. Our Housekeeping Supervisor
assists in the creation and implementation of proper cleaning
schedules/procedures, establishing an excellent lasting
impression for new and current residents and family members. Our
Housekeeping Supervisor must also develop and maintain
successful methods for providing personal laundry service to our
residents and other laundry created by Sunrise Village staff.
Administrative Assistant
Our Administrative Assistant plays a vital role in the
successful operation of Sunrise Village. Most often, as the
first point of contact for current or prospective residents and
families our Admin Assistant must create and maintain a warm,
welcoming environment. Working closely with the Administrator
and other department heads, our Admin Assistant provides support
for the day-to-day operations at Sunrise Village. Due to the
nature of the position our Admin Assistant must be time
efficient and have the ability to prioritize and multi-task at a
moment’s notice.
Administrator
The Administrator is responsible for day-to-day operations and
management of Sunrise Village overseeing all departments
including: Personal Care, Food Services, Marketing,
Housekeeping, Activities and Maintenance. The Administrator
works closely with the VP of Operations as well as providing
supervision to all staff or appropriate department supervisors.
The Administrator is responsible for Resident Services, Employee
Relations, Department Management, Budget Management,
Administrative Payroll & Scheduling, Public Relations as well as
General Office Administration.
Marketing Coordinator
The main objective of our Marketing Coordinator is to attain
full occupancy of Sunrise Village, create name brand
recognition, and communicate the many positive aspects of our
services to the community. Our Marketing Coordinator is
responsible for the creation, implementation and evaluation of a
marketing plan which would include public presentations,
coordination of informational material to be published or
distributed to prospective residents or their families by
understanding the needs and desires of those individuals in the
community. Our Marketing Coordinator will meet with, tour, and
provide additional information to assist our prospective
residents and their families in making an informed decision.
This is not a “hard sell” position, but rather one that relies
on building a relationship of trust. After sales service is also
essential in ensuring any move to Sunrise Village goes smoothly.
